Wow--all I can say is this blogging responsibility (although very new) has been on the back burner ....& honestly all i can say is I'M TRYING!
Well I was fortunate to have been able to attend the SNAG conference this year thanks to a small grant from Idaho Commission on the Arts (whoo-hoo) & it was AMAZING considering i was unable to attend last years conference. Although a wonderful experience, I unfortunately had two slightly problematic things happen while there. The first was a terrible case of laryngitis & second my camera (old) decided to call it quites. I must say it is funny thinking about losing my voice after the fact, considering it was a conference & I was trying to communicate with friends and colleagues in any way possible (sign language) while also trying hard not to scare them. My voice literally sounded like i had been downing bottles of Jack, smoking cartons of cigarettes while doing karaoke to Bjork every night. Besides these two little hang-ups, I was so grateful to have been able to attend the conference. The exhibitions & lectures have been keeping my brain abuzz for over the last week & half, not to mention all the people I was finally able to meet & others who I had not seen in a few years. My favorite exhibitions were Geography (AJF) & Ring a Day 2010. The Trunk Show was also an exciting addition to the conference experience--& again very excited for this in the future (my only regret was not being able to purchase something sweet) ---Oh & of course one of the best things- i was able to have lunch with my dear friend Kyle Patnaude who I haven't seen since the sabbatical replacement I did in New York two years ago. Kyle is making some very interesting work in his second year in grad school at Madison & as soon as he shares photos of his work I certainly intend to post--hint hint Kyle!
